Dubai Museum: Al Fahidi Fort Panorama Wall
The Dubai Museum & Al Fahidi Fort Panorama Wall is an immersive installation that showcases the evolution of Al Fahidi across five historical chapters, illustrating Dubai’s transformation over time. I worked on this project as a 3D Artist at NGX Interactive in Vancouver, BC. Our three-person team (a supervisor, myself, and a 2D artist) rebuilt the cityscape in different time periods, working closely with historical experts to ensure accuracy.
Year: 2026
My Role: 3D Artist
Software: Unreal Engine 5 , Nuke
Agency: NGX interactive
Massive World in Unreal Engine 5
We used Unreal Engine 5 to recreate the evolution of Dubai’s Al Fahidi district across multiple historical periods. Each environment contains large numbers of buildings, landscapes, coastlines, boats, and atmospheric elements. To accelerate production and maintain flexibility, we leveraged UE5’s Procedural Content Generation (PCG) tools to populate and manage large-scale scenes. Despite the museum’s massive display size, the final canvas resolution of 5500 × 1600 allowed us to take full advantage of Unreal Engine’s real-time rendering workflow
Precision Color Control with Nuke
To maintain a professional color pipeline, all renders were output as EXR files using an ACES color workflow. The scenes were then composited and color graded in Nuke, giving us precise control over the final look. We also utilized Cryptomatte passes, allowing individual objects and environment elements to be adjusted without re-rendering. This workflow provided the flexibility needed to achieve accurate color balance and consistency across the entire panoramic installation.
What Next ?
The installation is currently in production and is expected to be completed around July–August 2026. Once the setup is finalized, the museum will open to the public and visitors will be able to experience the finished installation in its intended environment. Seeing the project presented at full scale will be a rewarding milestone for the entire team. We look forward to sharing the final result with audiences in Dubai.
NGX Team
I worked on this project as a 3D Artist and Generalist at NGX Interactive, collaborating closely with my supervisor on the majority of the 3D content seen throughout the exhibition. Our team regularly reviewed the work using a large-scale projection setup in the studio, allowing us to evaluate the visuals at near-final presentation size. These projection sessions helped us refine composition, lighting, and color before delivery. This process ensured that the final installation would achieve the highest level of visual quality possible.
The End
The presentation of this project has come to a close. I sincerely hope that you found it enjoyable. Thank you very much.
